My Services

Public Speaker:

All of my speaking topics are based on my own life experiences and what I have learnt from them. I don’t claim to have any answers, rather I see the discussion itself as an opportunity to connect and inspire.

Speaking Topics:

  • Stuttering (What it is, impacts and support community etc).
  • Effective communication and presentation skills (In professional and personal contexts).
  • LGBTQ+ issues (from a gay man’s perspective).
  • Bullying (Impacts and how to rebuild self-esteem).
  • Suicide and survival.
  • Resilience, self-discovery and positive mental mindset.

My training workshops focus on teaching basic public speaking skills. I combine traditional techniques along with stuttering tools and acting improvisation to show that anyone can learn to be an effective speaker.

Who I train:

I am happy to help anyone who has a speaking situation coming up. They include:

  • Individuals – Both in a personal and professional context. If you have to make a wedding speech, I can help. Similarly if you have a work presentation to make, I can assist you there too.
  • Group Sessions – Learning to speak publicly with friends or co-workers can actually be a lot of fun and help promote teamwork and trust. Learning how to speak and listen to each other more effectively can also make us more effective in our personal and professional lives.
  • Corporate Training: The best CEOs know how to motivate and inspire the people around them. Anyone on the corporate ladder can build these leadership skills and get noticed within their organisation.
  • Secondary School Students: It is vital to teach young people public speaking skills while they are still in school to improve their confidence and self-expression. I still cover all the basic steps, but modify them for this specific age group.
  • Public Speaking for ESL/EFL: If English is not your first language, building your speaking confidence can be challenging . By refocusing on the tools and techniques I teach, you will find yourself less concerned with the quality of your English and perform better with greater freedom and ease.

    How I train:

With my public speaking workshops I generally cover four main steps. They consist of

    1. Preparation and Planning – There are various things to consider when planning a speech or presentation. The context, target audience, your goals and outcomes, time limits etc.
    2. Practice – Practice is everything. Knowing your speech well enough to feel confident. This is NOT about memorisation, rather is about finding your voice, speaking honestly and openly, and discovering your flow within your speech.
    3. Performance – The actual ‘performance’ is when the magic happens! Getting ready for this includes setting up your space, being prepared with water, notes, handouts etc. And then letting it all go as you connect with your audience and enjoying the experience.
    4. Post-Performance Feedback and Self-Evaluation – Learning to be an effective speaker takes practice and effective feedback. We all need this and highlighting our wins along with areas to improve is a vital component to honing your speaking skills
